Once in the pasture with the goats, the owner said he chased the goats and said Pokey is a killer. They wanted to 'get rid' of Pokey ASAP. First, we got miniature donkeys. They are adorable, but Pokey didn't seem to think so. He was put in a stall in the barn, but didn't seem to like that too much. Another problem came our two beautiful mules, Kit and Roadie, came to the rescue, Pokey was starting to get some strong feelings for them. However, Pokey is not gelded, which meant he had to be kept far, far away from the girls. A nice family was kind enough to foster him for a while, but after he went after their older dog, they could no longer keep him. Pokey is back at the rescue for a while, and we are currently trying to raise money for him to be safely gelded. Lately Pokey has been loving the cooler weather and enjoying running around during the day in a bigger pasture out behind his. Of course, Flash still tends to pick on him, along with a couple of other horses out with him, but he gets along well and has no problem defending himself.
